How can I link a DOORS object to a cell in an Excel worksheet?

I know DOORS supports the ability to create an external link from any object to a URL, assuming you can get a URL for the specific cell in your worksheet you can right click on any DOORS object and select to create an external link. I have never done this myself so would be interested in hearing from others on this topic.

The external link would be the name of the file, the name of the sheet, and the coordinates of the cell.  Don't recall the syntax.  You could figure out the Sheet/Cell syntax by defining some formulat on one sheet that references cells in another, then looking at the formula.

Using the DOORS "Link/New External Link" menu item, I attempted to link to a cell in an Excel spreadsheet using a "Link Path" as follows:

Path\Excel Filename.xlsx#'WBS Dictionary'!A4

The system opens the Excel spreadsheet but does not navigate to the specified worksheet or cell.

It appears that the "#'WBS Dictionary'!A4" string is ignored.  Note that this sting works OK when the Excel spreadsheet is opened from another Excel file i.e. it navigates directly to the specified sheet and cell.

Any ideas to link a DOORS object to an Excel spreadsheet and cell would be most welcome.

Don't know.  But if the 1st call opens it up, then make an identical 2nd call.
